Alvin, nagpapapayat?

“Me? Obese? You know it’s hard for a person to accept that he or she is obese because of the preconceived stigma that when you are obese you are super fat. If you will look at me, I’m not really that fat,”  exclaims Alvin.

Napasabak siya sa isang weight loss challenge sa Salamat Dok.

Latest News from Salamat Dok: ‘Salamat Dok’ Doubles Up on Health Info and Public Service

Double the credibility and double the authority when it comes to giving medical information, advice, and public service in the new “Salamat Dok” with Bernadette Sembrano and her new co-anchor Alvin Elchico beginning Saturday (July 23).

“We will be your guide on medical issues,” said Bernadette who is excited to be with Alvin in the program. According to her, Alvin is very articulate and can naturally share information in a down to earth manner. “Alvin has a gift of gab,” said Bernadette.

“We will bring you new and accurate information on health topics,” said Alvin. “This will be a new challenge for me. From simplifying complex consumer stories, I now have to help Bernadette make Filipinos understand medical and health issues.”

Even though “Salamat Dok” is Alvin’s first national TV show, Alvin is not new to anchoring health shows. He was the former anchor of DZMM’s nightly program “Magandang Gabi, Dok” two years ago. Prior to this, Alvin was part of the defunct program “Special Assignment” and anchored “TV Patrol Bacolod” during 1990s.

Just recently, Bernadette was the talk of the social media world, after viewers noticed her eye twitching in her various TV appearances. The broadcast journalist publicly admitted she has Bell’s palsy and talked about it in the program as well as The Buzz.

“I was overwhelmed by the messages I got from people via email, text, and Twitter. People started telling me that they also have bell’s palsy and I learned that there are many Filipinos who have it,” said Bernadette who is now recovering and getting better from the said ailment. She plans to tackle it in an episode of “Krusada,” which she will work on.

So join Bernadette and Alvin as they bring you the latest health news, events, and breakthroughs in the segment “Health Bulletin” starting this week.

Medical experts will also continue to give expert advice and opinions in “Payo ni Doc,” health trivias in “Alam N’yo Ba,” information on the drugs you take in “Medicine 101,” ways to be fit in “Fitness and Wellness,” celebrity diet and beauty secrets in “Health Police,” home remedies in “May Remedyo D’yan,” healthy food recipes in “Kusina Clinic,” parenting tips in “Family Matters,” and public service segment “Lingkod Kapamilya.”

Aside from “Salamat Dok,” Bernadette co-anchors “TV Patrol” on ABS-CBN every Saturday and Sunday and “Radyo Balita” on DZMM every afternoon at 4 PM. Alvin, on the other hand, is heard on DZMM in “S.R.O.” on weeknights at 7:30 PM and on “Konsumer Atbp” every Saturday, 10:30 AM.

Don’t miss “Salamat Dok” every Saturday, 5:50-6:50 AM and every Sunday, 7:30-8:30 AM on ABS-CBN. For this Sunday (July 24), “Salamat Dok” will have an earlier telecast at 7 am to give way for the replay of the Azkals game.

DZMM trends the Twitter world

DZMM in 8th place

The social networking site called "Twitter" puts DZMM Radyo Patrol 630 in the 8th position on the most trending topics. Some of their updates and announcements of the mayors in NCR and Regions 3 and 4-A (CALABARZON), especially the Department of Education, brought by the said AM station as they were suspending the classes from elementary and high school in the affected areas due to heavy rains and the effect of Tropical Storm "Falcon". It's a very great news for them.

To all the staff of DZMM, specially to Alvin Elchico and Roselle Manahan, who bring the special coverage, congratulations. :)

Also thanks to TJ Correa (@teejaycorrea), Ecca Billante (@supereccabol) for their efforts. BRAVO!!!!! :)
